PE makeups

This week there will be makeups for Physical Education. Makeups will include; the 12 minute run, fitness testing, pacer test, and a few others. Be sure to bring a partner to these makeups because you need someone to time you. Tests will take place both after and before school. When the tests are before school enough time will be given to take a shower. Good Luck!!

Soccer Tournament-

The indoor soccer tounrnament will take place tommorow after school! There will be up to five teams from each grade and there will be five players on the field at a time. One 9th grade team will consist of Dominic, Logan, Lincoln, Armstrong, and Grace. While another team will have Bobby, Eloi, Clarrissa, Naffi, Sasha, Akua, and me. Who will win? Come and find out tommorow!!

Gym Classes Begin Swimming

This week all gym classes have begun swimming!! Be sure to remeber to bring your bathing suits. And to everyone that has hair past thier shoulders bring a swim cap. This time during swimming we will be improving upon on our stroke forms. We will be doing things such as laps, and there will be different levels depending on skills.

Heavy fighting in Somali Capital!

Fifteen people were killed in Somali capital Mogadishu, and they were so angry and dragged the soldiers body's on the streets. People were kicking the bodies around on the streets and plenty of civilians have tried to escape this violence. Almost 1200 UN soldiers have entered Mogadishu to try to bring the violence down and stop the killing. Dozens of people have died in Mogadishu for the last 3 Months and they blame this on the Union of Islamic Courts. Ethiopian troops that have been in the country since December have started to hand over the responsibility to AU Force. The latest fighting started when the pro-government tried to take control of the strongholds the Hawiye Clan.

Friday, March 23, tomorrow will be laptop day. The school is testing a wireless internet system called wimax for next year. By getting this wireless internet the internet will be accessible all over campus. Gone will be the days when you have to go to the library to do research on the computers. Imagine being able to do your science research in places like the lunch areas. Bring your laptops to school tomorrow; the system needs to be tested out with many different laptops. Information for the special log in usernames and passwords will be given out tomorrow in primetime.

Owen Hargreaves is very confident that England will win the Euro 2008. Englan is in third place in their group after plaing very bad in the start, and they are playing Israel on Saturday. The midfielder said"We are not in the position we expected to be but we've got eight games left and we are not thinking about not qualifying. Hargreaves har been by Mclaren side and the boss said that the coach has become much better since he started coaching the national team. The coach started as the head coach ion august 1 and he has tried to impress the people since they lost the world cup.

Pool Opening

Even more exciting new for this Friday! Tomorrow, the pool will reopen after lots of hard work and repairs. Although some minor repairs will still continue during the April break, it will be open for use. The pool will soon be right back on track and utilized for its many activities. Starting immediately on Friday, some gym classes will be using the pool for their activities. The swimteam will also resume their practices in the pool starting next week. Also the pool will be opened for parents and teachers for laps at certain times. Thank you to everyone who was involved in repairing the pool for us!

Young drafted into England sqaud!!!

Luke Young The Defender in Charlton was called to play for England in 2008. They are gonna play against Israel and Andorra. Young's last appearance for the English sqaud was when the won 3-2 against Argentina in Geneva in November 2005. Young will be more likely to be playing in the defence because England has been having some problem with their defence, and he can be playing on the left back and Jamie Carragher filling in the right.

It is a nice restaurant it serves all appetites, unless you don't like fish..kidding, Captain Hook also offers other dishes as well.

LOST SEASON 3!!!

Season three will have a vastly different feeling, but at the same time reembrace the roots of the series.It will focus more on adventure.

- The first six episodes in the fall will be like a mini-series and focuses on the captivity story of Jack, Kate and Sawyer.

- We will learn more about The Others and Alex's story and an event will happen mid-season that will blow people away!

- J.J. Abrams will co-write the first episode which is titled "The Tale of Two Cities." He'll also direct the seventh episode, which is the first episode of the second half of the third season (early next year).They are going to reveal what happened to Locke, Desmond and Echo.and they will add new regular characters, which they are casting for now( it will be prometting).

Alonso Wants The F1 Title AGAIN!!!

Fernando Alonso IS so confident that he is gonna win the title, and he is changed from Renault to Mclaren. Though Alonso lost the 2006 race he says that he can win this year without any problems.Alonso said: "I am in a better position than the Renault team and I'm happy". Man on Fire

I recently saw the movie Man on Fire starring Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning and I instantly fell in love with it. Although this movie has been out for quite some time, I think it is to great of a film to pass up. I would categorize it as a thriller/ action film. Usually I’m not really into those types of movies, but it has a great story line that has the ability to touch your heart. In this film which is set in the heart of Mexico City, Denzel Washington serves as a all-work-no-play body guard towards costar Dakota Fanning. Until one day Dakota’s character gets kidnapped and Denzel must risk his life in many different instances to try and get her back. I would give five star performances to all of the actors in this movie that kept me guessing up until the very end. But don’t take my word for it, see Man on Fire for yourself.

About two days ago i saw Romeo+Juliet, the newest interpretation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

it is an interesting movie, taking the original story, but placed it in Verona Beach, LA. it is here two gangs fighting each other, and using guns instead of swords...

cool thing is, they kept the original script, so whatever is said in this movie, is what Shakespeare wrote. Thus, changing the movie completely, due to the different time setting, but keeping the original gist and striking point of the play.

if you missed this movie, check your DSTV (if you have it) Program and check when it comes on..(they usually play movies more than once..) but if you are to miss it, according to the DSTV website, it is rolling again on April 24, at 20.00 pm (chech the specific time for GMT though..)

Navy Loses contact with submarine

The navy has lost contact with the Norfolk, Virginia off the coast of Florida. The sub had no problems, it had probably a technical problem and is still being investigated. The sub was found on Tuesday when it had shot a red flare and was then located and found by searchers.

Movie review: The Pursuit of Happiness

I recently watched this movie, and i can honestly say that i was amazed..
this movie is brilliant, with a star-studded cast, like Will smith and his own son starring opposite him!
The basic outline of the story: A man who tries very hard, and though he tries, nothing seems to work..
It is a fell-goodmovie, that might just make you cry..
The ending, I will not reveal,though it is predictable...

my advice: WATCH IT!

A tunnel Connecting Africa with Europe

Europe and Africa have been seperated by the Strait of Gibraltar for millions of years. The only way to get there was either using a boat or a plane. But soon starting in 2008 a tunnel will start to be constructed connecting Africa and Europe through a railway beneath the Strait of Gibraltar. It will start from Spain and go to Morocco. It will be 300m deep(1000ft) and have a length of 38,670m.

Essien extends his contract!!

Essien the ghanian international, 24, was signed to chelsea in 2005 and has now renewed his contract until 2012... He said " It didn't take me long to decide to sign", he has played 46 matches for chelsea...He also said "I am really happy because I came here to stay a long time. I work really hard and do everything to succeed. I have the ambition to win a lot of trophies." Ice-Cream Dilemma

As all students are probably aware of now, the after-school ice-cream sales have been suspended.
The reason? Simple: TRASH! This is an increasing problem, which has eventually lead to a closing by the head of the school. Now, this problem could easily be solved by two factors, and the help of both students AND teachers.
First of all: Even though we are probably not much for admitting it, no matter what is said or what the counter argument is, the students are the biggest sinners in this matter. We are inconsiderate, leaving all the trash for someone else to pick up and not really caring. If only students would reconsider the fact that: sometimes there is no one but you, and no one else is gonna pick up YOUR trash, and therefore the only responsible act is to take care of it yourself. Also, not untill us, the students solve the problem of “trashing” the middle school lunch area after school, nothing can be done about the problem!
However, there is another, counter argument.
Back in the day, students would (after the first warning from the big guys to clean up after ourselves..) nicely and dutily pick up their ice cream wrapper and empty popcorn bags, and throw them into a convenient little blue trash can, right beside them. But then, something VERY strange happened: THEY DISSAPPEARED! No one knows where these cute little trashcans went, and we all miss them! They have been replaced by a few giant trashcans, of which (unfortunately) only two or three are left standing after lunch!
Then, it is no surprise, knowing the incredible laziness of highschool students and the not-knowing of 6th graders that there is trash laying around, when students have to walk all the way to the admin building, or the new science lab to throw their trash away! Now, this is of course not a legitimate reason, for inevitably we should all pick up our trash no matter where the nearest trash can is, but it is a fair reason to consider, and we encourage all students who reads this to suggest the idea of bringing back our blue’cans to their teachers, and to Mr. Muscow! The comeback of the icecream, is a matter of a shared effort from both students and the school!
I hereby encourage all students to read this “contract” and follow it!:
I promise to pick up my trash and throw it away (no matter where the trash cans are!)
But, I also promise to bugg my teachers untill the school get’s more trashcans! And when they finally (and hopefully) arrive, they’ll be properly used!
